Bangladesh does not have a long history and maintaining high QHSE standards has never been a big priority. However, we at Shamolima have made it a corporate policy to research and deploy our resources to prepare a document that can incorporate the necessary QHSE standards that are a pre-requisite to minimize the impacts of our actions on the demanding and dangerous work of this nature. We have analyzed our collective experiences related to our work for local and international clients and in consultation with experts based on this and our remedial actions we have taken action to develop a comprehensive QHSE program for Shamolima working practices in Bangladesh. This program will now enable us to safeguard the environment, protect the health and safety of our employees, our customers, and the public wherever we operate.
We are committed to developing and improving our QHSE program in association with our valuable clients so that there is a customer confidence in not only our performance at work but also in the procedures we follow at work. Our QHSE policy has a special emphasis on a transportation program for materials and equipment in a safe and efficient manner since this is the core of our present scope of work for multinational companies.
Bangladesh has a very challenging environment with many variables. Even the simplest civic systems and institutions that are taken for granted in most developed nations throughout the world do not consistently function as they should. As a result any guidelines that are formulated are continuously subject to review and improvement. We are confident that we have created the basis for uplifting the standard of our responsibility at work to a level that has not yet been achieved in Bangladesh and which will be a benchmark for the future.
The management of the Shamolima Limited is committed to the protection of the health and safety of our employees, our customer’s employees, and the general public. We believe that incidents and injuries are preventable, and that a job is only well done if it is done safely. We have documented QHSE policies in place, and have a Safety Management System in operation, which is in accordance with the labor laws of Bangladesh. In addition, Shamolima Limited engages external QHSE auditors to perform external safety audits on our operation to ensure that our processes are in keeping with our procedures and the applicable legislation. In 2015 Shamolima Limited has received Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001) certificate from Bureau Veritas (Bangladesh) Private Limited. We are the first Bangladeshi Logistics company have its processes audited and approved to meet the international standards of the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001).
