PROJECT SUPPORT SERVICES

SHAMOLIMA is very actively engaged in Project Support Services for the different sectors within the infrastructure building and development work projects of the country. Particular areas of interest have been the power, and oil and gas sectors, however, with the development and expansion of our expertise in terms of manpower and equipment we are now in a position to seriously provide our services to other areas such as the communications, telecommunications, etc. Through the years we have now specialized in providing a complete 'Door to Door' logistics service in Bangladesh. This service encompasses the full range of services from the point of entry into Bangladesh. This includes handling of ships and all port formalities, clearing and forwarding of project materials at the Customs entry points, and finally transportation of all types of project materials by road, railway and river.

In recent times we have also increased the scope of our services by providing and managing a comprehensive transportation service for projects for the delivery of project materials from the country of origin right upto project site in Bangladesh. This has been achieved through a tie-up with large international freight forwarders in the world having offices in all six continents of the globe.

In addition to the above we are providing our clients the full range of equipment and services for their project work at site. This includes the supply of different capacity cranes, trucks/trailers, barges, tugs, forklifts, dump trucks, bulldozers, excavators, pay loaders, compressors, caravans etc. All equipment and vehicles are provided with experienced and qualified Operators/Drivers and helpers who are used to working for projects for international clients. There are very qualified and skilled manpower within our group to provide the offered services in a very professional manner. We would like to mention that we have the experts at air and sea ports who are familiar with the formalities to do clearing and forwarding of shipments in a very smooth and prompt manner. We also have the necessary in-house management with oil field supervisors who are familiar with drilling rigs and also oilfield materials. They can identify any equipment at the ports that may need to be delivered on an emergency basis to the project sites.

We are now continuing to provide these services to Chevron Bangladesh for its operations in the Sylhet region. Having worked extensively with them we are very familiar with the high standards of service that are required within the oil and gas industry. In addition to the normal clearing, transportation and forwarding of drilling and oilfield materials within the country we are also the only local company in Bangladesh who are specialists in the turnkey movement of complete drilling rigs. We have successfully completed more than thirty rig and camp moves for different IOCs within last few years. This successful record cannot be surpassed by any other local company.

In addition we are also fully capable of preparing sites for drilling operations. Our inhouse management has the technical expertise to design and prepare sites as per the requirements of the client. We completed the Kapna drilling site in Sylhet in record time for Occidental of Bangladesh Ltd prior to the onset of the monsoons. We are a prequalified civil works contractor.

Earlier we had long-term contracts with Chevron Bangladesh, KCA Deutag Bangladesh, Precision Drilling, Century Drilling, and Halliburton amongst these.

We also had one long-term contract with Shell Bangladesh Exploration and Development B.V.This is for Crane & Truck Hire Services. We were given an HSE Award by Shell for our safe working practices and no Lost Time Incidents (LTI).

We would like to mention that Health, Environment, and Safety (HES) issues have not traditionally been a very priority aspect for services rendered in this country and there are many crude working practices in the transportation and logistics industry at present. As the leader in this specialized industry related to the oil and gas industry and with a view to drastically uplift the national HES standards we have taken many measures to improve the Shamolima working practices. Our corporate policy has been to take a very pro-active position to review and put into place a set of guidelines that will be the basis for continuous improvement.

We have recently introduced our Shamolima HES manual, which we are now implementing to provide a better quality of service to our valued clients. We have a full time HES officer to monitor all activities for a safe performance.
